We’re at the forefront of media innovation and are now seeking a dynamic and skilled Associate Editor to join our UK-based digital newsroom, focusing on the exciting frontier of AI-assisted news production.
About the Role:
As an Associate Editor, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of journalism by leveraging artificial intelligence and automation tools to create high-quality content at scale. This is an exceptional opportunity for a journalist passionate about emerging technologies and their impact on news delivery. You will collaborate closely with our US News Editor and other team members.
Responsibilities:
- Produce, edit, and publish multiple news stories daily using AI-powered tools.
- Apply critical editorial judgment to ensure accuracy, fairness, and adherence to journalistic ethics in AI-generated content.
- Continuously learn and adapt to new AI technologies to improve efficiency and enhance news reporting.
- Respond quickly and accurately to breaking news events.
- Monitor various sources to identify emerging news, trends, and relevant topics.
- Pitch original ideas and topics to complement our AI-assisted coverage.
- Collaborate with the US News Editor and wider editorial team on projects and coverage strategies.
- Maintain Newsweek’s high standards for accuracy, fairness, and journalistic integrity in all content.
- Perform other editorial duties as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a highly motivated and experienced journalist with a proven track record in digital news. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Relevant experience in digital news journalism, including reporting, pitching, assigning stories, and editing/publishing.
- Strong editorial judgment and a solid understanding of media law.
- Exceptional ability to produce and edit high-quality content under tight deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Proficiency with digital publishing tools, content management systems (CMS), and editing software.
- Familiarity with standard IT tools like Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Adaptability and a willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, as required.
- Experience covering U.S. news, including politics, current affairs, and culture.
Working Hours:
This is a full-time role, requiring 5 days a week. Shifts will be either Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday. Weekday hours are typically 7 AM to 4 PM, and weekend hours are 8 AM to 5 PM.
