The Opportunity: Head of Design

As Head of Design, you’ll be a key leader in shaping the future of Shakepay. You will champion design excellence and guide your team to consistently deliver experiences that build confidence and drive user engagement. This is a high-impact role where you’ll influence company strategy, strengthen our design culture, and ensure our products set the standard for clarity, trust, and delight in financial services.

What You’ll Do

• Define the Design Vision: Establish a long-term roadmap for product design aligned with business goals and customer needs.
• Elevate Design Strategically: Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Executive leadership to shape product direction and strategy.
• Cultivate a High-Performing Team: Foster creativity, collaboration, and a relentless pursuit of excellence within the design team.
• Champion Customer-Centricity: Oversee user research and insights programs to embed data-driven design decisions into product development.
• Mature Design Systems and Operations: Drive the evolution of design systems, tooling, and processes for efficient scaling.
• Ensure Design Quality: Set high standards for UI, UX, and product storytelling to strengthen user trust in Shakepay.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re searching for a highly motivated and experienced design leader with the following qualifications:

• Proven Experience: 10+ years in product design, with 3+ years leading design teams in high-growth consumer tech or FinTech companies.
• Strategic Influence: Experience partnering directly with executives and senior leaders to shape product direction.
• Operational Excellence: Expertise in building design systems, frameworks, and DesignOps practices.
• Customer Obsession: A strong belief in the importance of listening to customers and balancing insights with product strategy.
• Mentor and Multiplier: Ability to inspire, coach, and grow your team.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to thrive in close partnership with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Operations.
• Entrepreneurial Mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity and complexity, with the ability to chart a path forward.
• Clear Communication: Excellent at distilling complex ideas into clear narratives.
• Genuine Interest in Bitcoin: Experience working on cryptocurrency or FinTech products is a plus.
