Job Description

Join Our Team as a Technical Auditor for Software Licensing

Are you a technically savvy individual with a passion for ensuring software compliance? Do you thrive in a data-driven environment where your analytical skills can make a real impact? If so, Partner One Capital and Cincom Systems have an exciting opportunity for you! We are seeking a meticulous and motivated Technical Auditor for Software Licensing to join our team and play a crucial role in safeguarding our intellectual property and ensuring customer compliance with our software license agreements.

About the Role

As a Technical Auditor, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth audits of customer systems to verify adherence to their contractual obligations. You will analyze software usage patterns, evaluate licensing models, and identify any discrepancies between actual usage and reported claims. Your expertise in both IT infrastructure and application development (with a focus in one or the other), combined with your understanding of software licensing, will be essential for success in this role. You’ll also have the opportunity to collaborate with our Sales team, leveraging publicly available data to identify potential audit candidates and provide valuable insights for sales negotiations. This role requires someone with a curious mind, an analytical approach, and the ability to uncover hidden insights within complex systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough audits of customer systems, focusing on technical infrastructure, application architectures, and their relationship to product usage and licensing compliance.
  • Analyze data, logs, and system configurations to detect discrepancies between licensed usage and actual deployment.
  • Leverage your deep understanding of application architectures and delivery environments (e.g., VMWare, AWS, Citrix, client-server) to effectively audit applications within those environments.
  • Interpret complex licensing models and ensure customer adherence to software agreements and policies.
  • Proactively research and investigate how customers are utilizing our products, assessing the impact on their licensing requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with Sales, Legal, Finance, Engineering, and IT teams to maintain consistency and accuracy in customer licensing, utilizing the appropriate resources as needed.
  • Develop clear, actionable reports summarizing audit findings, recommendations, and any necessary corrective licensing actions. Be prepared to present findings to senior management and customers.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest technical developments, industry trends, and evolving licensing models.
  • Contribute to the development of audit processes and documentation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in future audits.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Technical Proficiency: Deep technical expertise in either programming (with the ability to analyze codebases and system configurations) or systems infrastructure technologies (including VMWare, AWS, device management systems, and the ability to administer and analyze infrastructure tools). Some knowledge in the other area is required.
  • Experience: Prior experience in software license auditing or compliance within a technical environment.
  • Licensing Knowledge: A solid understanding of various software licensing models (e.g., perpetual, subscription-based, concurrent usage) and their application to diverse customer scenarios.
  • Problem-Solving & Research Skills: Exceptional ability to investigate complex technical issues, conduct thorough investigations, and synthesize findings into actionable conclusions, even when information is limited.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to reviewing systems and data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with licensing agreements.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to obtain access and information from those being audited and to present technical issues effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Education: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
