Environmental Project Manager: Lead Remediation Efforts for Federal Clients
AECOM is seeking a passionate and experienced Project Manager to lead environmental investigation and remediation projects for our Federal clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in environmental stewardship while managing complex projects. The successful candidate can work remotely or from our Atlanta, GA office.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and direct professional and technical staff to successfully complete complex environmental projects.
- Direct experience with CERCLA projects and federal facilities.
- Effectively manage all phases of RI/FS (Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study), Remedial Design, and Five-Year Reviews.
- Maintain regular client interaction on technical, cost, and schedule topics.
- Manage project invoicing and cash flow.
- Develop and maintain project schedules.
- Analyze financial statements and complete budget tracking.
- Interpret data and conduct analyses to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Prepare work plans and organize project studies.
- Supervise junior and mid-level staff.
Qualifications
We are looking for a driven and experienced professional with the following:
- Minimum of a BA/BS in Geology, Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency.
- Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of direct experience as a project manager in environmental remediation.
- Experience as a client-facing professional with business development ambitions (“seller-doer”).
- Professional License (PE, PG) in New England states is a plus.
- 8+ years of experience in environmental remediation (soil, water, sediment, PFAS, munitions) project management.
- Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or a related degree is a plus.
- Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations.
- Proven success managing environmental projects for Federal clients (USACE, Air Force, Navy, EPA).
- Thorough working knowledge of RCRA and CERCLA processes.
- Experience in team management and scheduling to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.
- Superior communication, writing, and reporting skills.
- Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders.
- Interest in business development.
- Experience leading teams in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessments, and Treatability Studies in support of Federal environmental projects.
