About the First Full-Time Engineer Role at Rey

We’re seeking a talented and driven engineer to join us as our first full-time engineering hire! This isn’t just about writing code; it’s about shaping our entire engineering culture, team, and product. We need someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where speed and ownership are paramount. You will be instrumental in leading projects from conception to deployment, making crucial technical decisions, and playing a pivotal role in defining Rey’s future success.

This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to quickly grow into a Technical Lead or even a CTO position within a year, and you will also be responsible for building and leading the engineering team.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate directly with customers to understand their needs and design intuitive product experiences that solve real-world problems.
• Take full ownership of projects, from ideation and prototyping to deploying features that reach and impact real users.
• Make key technical and architectural decisions that will lay the groundwork for our product and engineering culture.
• Work closely with the founder (Linh) on product vision, roadmap, and prioritization.

What We’re Looking For

• You have solid experience in mobile app development, having built and shipped mobile apps independently or as part of a team. Experience with cross-platform frameworks like Flutter is a significant plus.
• You have some experience with backend technologies (Java, Ruby, Elixir, or similar) or are eager to learn as we grow.
• You are detail-oriented and strive to build high-quality, scalable user experiences for a large audience and think critically about user impact.
• You thrive under pressure and are comfortable tackling new challenges and learning new skills quickly.
• You have the confidence to ship products quickly and prioritize momentum over perfection.
• You have experience building and leading teams, including recruiting, coaching, and developing engineers.
• You know how to create a supportive, empowering, and challenging work environment.
• You are based in Berlin or within ±2 hours of CEST/CET and are willing to travel to Berlin to work in person a few times a year.
