Your Role: A Vital Link in Patient Care
As a Pharmacy Technician in our closed-door pharmacy environment, you’ll be a key point of contact for patients, doctors, and facilities. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks, from handling phone inquiries and navigating multiple pharmacy software systems to supporting various stages of patient care. This role offers opportunities to develop a diverse skillset, adapting to organizational needs and expanding your pharmacy knowledge.
This position is based in a supportive office (or remote) environment, where you’ll have the resources and technology to deliver an exceptional patient experience. Our fast-paced, high-energy atmosphere encourages growth and provides opportunities to excel, particularly in phone-based pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing exceptional customer service in a phone-based environment.
- Accurately entering and processing a high volume of prescription information.
- Utilizing your drug knowledge to obtain prescription authorizations, clarifications, and transfers.
- Performing claim adjudication and auditing duties, including prior authorizations, billing, and eligibility checks.
- Making outbound calls to patients to address their needs.
- Working through case queues to resolve patient care issues.
- Serving as a liaison between clinical pharmacists and other medical professionals.
- Collaborating with technicians and pharmacists to ensure successful onboarding of new patients.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.
- Retrieving and verifying prescription information through doctor calls.
- Placing welcome calls to new patients and establishing a trusted point of contact.
- Creating, maintaining, and updating patient medication profiles through outbound calls.
- Providing backup support during periods of high call volume.
- Effectively addressing patient questions over the phone.
- Supporting ExactCare’s nationwide patient base in a fast-paced environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- Comfort and proficiency in a phone-based environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.
- A self-motivated and goal-oriented approach.
- Proficiency in using computer equipment, technology, and multiple software programs for medication authorizations, clarifications, and transfers.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to effectively interact with doctor’s offices, pharmacists, and patients over the phone.
- Thorough drug knowledge and familiarity with pharmacy billing processes.
- Knowledge of appropriate processes for taking prescriptions, clarifications, and transfers, with clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.

- Ability to think critically and document pertinent details in compliance with state and federal regulations.

- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prior experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Current certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Health Association (NHA) and maintenance of certification.
- Current pharmacy technician registration with the State Board of Pharmacy.
- Ability to perform in an office-based (or remote) setting requiring prolonged sitting (90% of the time).
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
