The Role: Lead Design and Shape the Future of Our Product

As a Staff Product Designer at Mainstay, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience across our product suite. You’ll start by owning the design vision for a core product area, becoming a subject matter expert and delivering exceptional results. Over time, you’ll influence and elevate the design across multiple product lines, enhancing usability, driving efficiency, and maximizing business impact at scale. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and leadership to translate vision into reality, exploring how AI and emerging technologies can be responsibly and creatively applied to our product.

What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities

• Design Strategy: Own and drive the design strategy for key product workstreams, from initial discovery to final delivery.
• Mentorship: Mentor and support fellow designers, elevating the overall quality of our team’s work.
• Collaboration: Partner with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and operations teams to translate business opportunities into user-centered designs.
• User Research: Conduct user research and synthesize insights to inform strategic product decisions and validate design concepts.
• Prototyping: Develop high-fidelity prototypes to explore and validate new features, workflows, and interactions.
• Design System: Contribute to and expand our design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across all products.
• Innovation: Stay informed about AI and emerging technologies, exploring how they can enhance user experience and workflow efficiency.

What We’re Looking For: Qualifications

• Experience: 8+ years of relevant work experience in product design.
• Design Craft: Exceptional design skills with a portfolio that demonstrates thoughtful, polished, and high-quality work.
• Product Thinking: A holistic approach to design, considering both user needs and business impact.
• Enterprise Experience: Experience working on complex B2B or enterprise products.
• Collaboration: A collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills and the ability to advocate for users.
• Adaptability: Comfort navigating ambiguity, defining problems, and driving solutions with minimal guidance.

Bonus Points

• Prior experience in real estate, finance, or other complex industries.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), a Design field, or equivalent professional experience.
