Opportunity: Applied AI Operations Lead – Drive the Future of Healthcare Automation

Join our Go-To-Market Operations team as an Applied AI Operations Lead and play a pivotal role in deploying, adopting, and governing AI agents across our growing customer base. This is a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between our world-class Applied AI engineering team and healthcare organizations eager to leverage Canvas’s advanced AI capabilities.

In this hands-on role, you’ll partner directly with customers to implement and manage AI agents powered by foundation model APIs and our robust server-side SDK. Your focus will be on ensuring these agents deliver tangible value within real-world healthcare environments. This involves collaborating closely with clinical, operational, and financial stakeholders to deeply understand their workflows, meticulously configure agents for peak performance, and establish robust governance frameworks that foster trust in AI-driven automation.

We’re looking for a candidate who possesses both technical expertise in LLM-based systems and exceptional customer-facing skills, coupled with a genuine passion for transforming healthcare. You’ll translate sophisticated AI capabilities into compelling value propositions, guide customers through change management initiatives, and develop scalable playbooks that accelerate AI adoption across the Canvas ecosystem. Your work will have a direct and significant impact, enabling thousands of care teams to improve patient outcomes and reduce administrative burdens.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Deployment & Implementation: Partner with healthcare organizations to deploy and configure AI agents for various applications, including clinical documentation, scheduling, billing, communications, and workflow automation.
  • Workflow Optimization: Conduct thorough workflow assessments to identify high-impact automation opportunities and design agent implementations that deliver measurable ROI.
  • Agent Configuration & Optimization: Fine-tune agent performance through prompt engineering, context management, and intelligent tool selection based on specific customer needs.
  • Evaluation Frameworks: Create and maintain customer-specific evaluation frameworks to demonstrate agent effectiveness and build stakeholder confidence.
  • Governance & Trust Building: Implement and maintain AI governance frameworks to ensure safe and reliable agent operations in production healthcare environments.
  • Performance Monitoring: Design and implement monitoring systems for agent performance, including accuracy tracking, drift detection, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Partner with clinical and compliance teams to ensure deployed agents meet all regulatory requirements and operational standards.
  • Training & Enablement: Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs to empower care teams to effectively collaborate with AI agents.
  • Technical Excellence & Innovation: Troubleshoot and optimize agent behavior using foundation model APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Gemini) and the Canvas SDK.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with the Applied AI engineering team to translate field insights into product improvements and new capabilities.
  • Best Practices & Playbooks: Build and maintain a comprehensive library of best practices, implementation templates, and governance playbooks to accelerate customer success.
  • Industry Expertise: Stay abreast of advancements in LLM technology and healthcare AI applications to guide strategic customer conversations.
  • Strategic Customer Partnership: Serve as a trusted AI advisor to Canvas customers, helping them navigate the transition to AI-powered healthcare operations.
  • Executive Engagement: Drive executive-level conversations about AI strategy, showcasing how Canvas’s platform capabilities enable competitive advantage.
  • Value Storytelling: Craft compelling narratives around AI impact using customer success stories, performance metrics, and ROI analyses.
  • Sales Enablement: Partner with sales teams on strategic opportunities, providing technical expertise and vision for AI transformation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 5+ years in technical customer-facing roles (solutions engineering, technical consulting, customer success engineering).
  • LLM Deployment: Demonstrated experience deploying and managing LLM-based applications in production environments.
  • Implementation Success: Proven track record of driving successful enterprise technology implementations with measurable business outcomes.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously.
  • AI Expertise: Hands-on experience with products from foundation model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) and AI tools for low-code automation.
  • AI Understanding: Deep understanding of AI safety, alignment, and governance principles.
  • Evaluation Frameworks: Experience with evaluation frameworks, A/B testing, and performance monitoring for AI systems.
  • AI Limitations: Experience with limitations of AI products and iterative process to improve results.
  • Healthcare Expertise: Healthcare technology experience is required, with the ability to provide workflow advice and construct automations tailored to healthcare users.
  • Healthcare Knowledge: Understanding of clinical workflows, EMR systems, and healthcare operations.
  • Compliance: Familiarity with HIPAA, clinical documentation standards, and healthcare compliance considerations.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to define structure in undefined spaces.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling technical content.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Training: Experience creating and delivering technical training to diverse audiences.

You have a background in implementing workflow tools and automation solutions in enterprise settings, with practical experience with LLM-based systems. You excel at translating technical complexity into business value and are comfortable presenting to technical teams and C-suite executives.

What Success Looks Like in 90 Days

Within your first 90 days, you will have successfully deployed AI agents with at least 3 Canvas customers, demonstrating measurable improvements in efficiency and user satisfaction. You will have contributed significantly to the best practices playbook for AI agent deployment and monitoring, leveraging your field insights. You will have also created compelling case studies and ROI analyses that accelerate sales cycles and customer adoption.
