Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for research administration? We’re seeking a highly motivated Sponsored Projects Specialist (SPS) to join our dynamic team. As the first point of contact for proposal and award review, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of sponsored projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all proposal and agreement documentation, including proper application of indirect cost rates (IDC) and facilities and administrative (F&A) rates.
- Manage proposal submissions via COEUS, the university’s system for sponsored projects management, ensuring compliance with all required processes.
- Evaluate proposals and agreements against a complex framework of policies and regulations, determining the appropriate path for review and approval.
- Maintain accurate records of negotiation and agreement tracking information in COEUS and MyRAP (JHU ORA’s systems), ensuring timely updates.
- Develop schedules to meet critical review and submission deadlines.
- Apply a strong understanding of federal regulations and policies related to research compliance, including human subjects, animal use, and stem cell use.
- Navigate conflict of interest and compliance processes impacting proposal submission, contract signoff, and problem resolution.
- Prepare professional correspondence to internal and external stakeholders, providing updates on negotiation status and signature processes.
- Respond to inquiries regarding rules and regulations governing sponsored projects.
- Meet established benchmarks and timelines to expedite grant and contract processing.
- Commit to continuous learning to stay informed about changes in procedures, regulations, and technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
We’re looking for candidates with:
- High school diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Five years of related administrative experience.
- Note: Additional education or related experience may substitute for the required qualifications as per JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $21.25 – $36.90 HRLY ($70,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
