The Opportunity: DevOps Engineer

We are actively seeking a talented and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic k0rdent core team. This role offers a unique blend of DevOps and QA engineering, focusing on the critical task of designing, deploying, and rigorously testing our flagship product infrastructure built upon leading open source components. You will play a vital role in evolving and expanding our product capabilities, ensuring its reliability, performance, and seamless operation across diverse cloud environments.

What You’ll Do

In this pivotal role, you will:

Architect, deploy, and meticulously test cutting-edge Kubernetes-related products, including Mirantis k0rdent, across various cloud landscapes.

Drive the research, development, and implementation of sophisticated CI/CD tooling and automation pipelines to guarantee product workability, performance, and high reliability.

Contribute significantly to the design and development of internal tools essential for automating K8S environment deployments and testing scenarios.

Analyze test results and provide actionable insights and technical recommendations to both Mirantis engineering teams and the broader open source community.

Actively engage in the full Agile development lifecycle, participating in requirement grooming, design sessions, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

Collaborate with the team on planning, estimation, and prioritization of product features and technical initiatives.

Thrive within a fast-paced, geographically distributed Agile team environment.

Leverage your expertise to assist in the timely and effective resolution of complex customer issues.

What You’ll Bring

Essential Skills & Experience

Deep hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes is paramount.

Proven DevOps engineering background with a solid understanding of CI/CD principles, best practices, and implementation.

At least 3 years of practical, hands-on experience with Linux as a server platform (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu). This includes deep OS understanding, the ability to debug and tune performance, and troubleshoot hardware-related issues.

Strong proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git.

Familiarity with modern code review systems (e.g., Gerrit, GerritHub).

Direct experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting infrastructure on leading public clouds such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Excellent communication skills, a proactive ‘can-do’ attitude, and a strong focus on delivering high-quality results.

Upper-intermediate or higher proficiency in both spoken and written English.

Bonus Points

Golang development experience.

Experience with other Kubernetes cluster management tooling (e.g., Rancher, Gardener, Tanzu).

Contributions to or direct experience with open source development projects.

Experience instrumenting systems and utilizing monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) to assess system health and performance.

Knowledge of the OpenStack or VMware ecosystems.

Experience working with high load systems.
