The Interop Team: Your Impact

We are building a pivotal new team, creatively named Interop. This systems-focused team will expand upon the crucial work of our existing Data Platform team, taking on the responsibility of providing robust support for a broader suite of RPC and data-intensive services built atop the Sui network.

As a core member of Interop, you will be instrumental in providing comprehensive systems support for all aspects of service interaction with Sui. This encompasses critical areas such as managing complex Sui interactions, ensuring efficient state management, guaranteeing high levels of production reliability, and streamlining release management workflows.

Your work will involve owning vital horizontal systems that interface directly with the Sui network (e.g., managing Sui RPC nodes) and collaborating across teams (like Cryptography, Move Platform, and Walrus) to productionize their externally-facing services, ensuring they are performant, reliable, and scalable.

What You’ll Bring

We are seeking engineers with a solid foundation in software development and a passion for systems. Ideal candidates will possess:

• A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a proven track record of building complex systems and applying methodologies to ensure both correctness and performance.
• Fluency in a systems language like Rust (highly preferred, as it’s our primary language) or C++.
• Substantial experience in the design and implementation of large-scale distributed systems.
• Knowledge and experience with the design and evaluation of secure systems, including secure programming practices, appropriate use of cryptography, and strategies for mitigating DoS attacks.
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable writing clear and comprehensive design documentation and actively participating in technical discussions and reviews (sync, async, in-person, remote).
• Deep expertise in one or more relevant technical domains such as networking, distributed systems, storage, databases, operating systems, or runtimes, enabling you to read research papers and translate concepts into practical system designs.
• A genuine interest in open, decentralized, and permissionless technologies, and the fascinating intersection of contemporary technology, economics, finance, and governance.

We strongly encourage engineers who demonstrate expertise in several of these areas to apply, even if you do not have prior direct experience working with blockchain technologies.
