The Opportunity: Staff Front End Engineer

Staff Front End Engineer to join our engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with back-end and mobile engineers to design, build, and maintain critical tools that keep Medely’s platform innovative and exciting, delivering significant value to our users.
Leading the Charge: What You’ll Do
As a key member of the engineering team, reporting to a Director of Engineering, you will step into a
front-end technical lead role for your dedicated team. This means:
- Acting as the primary
front-end technical lead for a cross-functional Agile software engineering team. - Guiding the technical direction, leading
code and design reviews, and sharing your expertise while actively incorporating feedback. - Partnering with product managers, designers, and engineering leadership to drive architecture decisions and shape future product features.
- Designing and implementing highly visible, user-facing features and applications that are impactful and intuitive.
- Developing testable front-end code with a strong focus on performance, maintainability, and scale.
- Writing and working with GraphQL server-side and client-side code to enhance Medely’s core web applications.
Your Profile: What You Bring
We’re looking for engineers who are not just skilled but are also passionate about building high-performance, impactful web applications using modern technologies and patterns. You likely possess:
- A solid foundation in computer science or a related technical field (BS/BA) or equivalent practical experience.
- A strong track record, demonstrating 7+ years of professional
front-end development experience. - Significant expertise (3+ years) working with
React, including deep understanding of state management, animations, and build tools like Webpack. - Proven experience stepping up as a technical lead and/or architect within an Agile engineering team environment.
- A genuine interest and experience in mentoring peers and investing in the development of other engineers.
- A history of successfully delivering features through to production environments.
- Keen awareness of web performance considerations, including cross-browser compatibility, componentization strategies, and load-time optimizations.
- A strong understanding of GraphQL development (server and client) and GraphQL-focused architecture.
- Excellent command of
React/JavaScript frameworks and the ability to architect robust single-page applications or mobile-first web applications. - Exceptional ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and a willingness to dive in and execute when needed.
- Experience with React Native is a definite plus.
- Experience working on complex front-end projects with highly interactive features and integrating with various
APIs.
