The Opportunity: Software Engineer, Data & Distributed Systems

Are you passionate about building scalable, robust systems that process vast amounts of data? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence and real-world impact? We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team, specializing in Data Engineering and Distributed Systems. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the foundational data infrastructure that powers our innovative healthcare platform.

What Your Day Will Entail:

• Driving tasks across the full software development life cycle, from requirements to deployment.
• Collaborating closely with stakeholders to refine software requirements and iterate on solutions.
• Developing high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code for tools and applications.
• Automating workflows and processes through effective scripting.
• Analyzing system performance, identifying issues, and performing root cause debugging.
• Championing quality through rigorous validation and verification testing, with a strong emphasis on Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Actively participating in code reviews, both giving and receiving constructive feedback.
• Partnering with internal teams and external vendors to enhance and maintain products.
• Ensuring our software stack remains current with cutting-edge technologies.
• Working hands-on with distributed computing systems like Apache Hudi and Trino for large-scale big data processing.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

We’re looking for experienced engineers with a solid foundation and specialized expertise in big data:

• Proven experience in Data Engineering, specifically working with big data, integrating advanced capabilities (potentially including AI Integration), and building scalable SaaS applications.
• Hands-on experience with distributed computing tools such as Apache Hudi, Trino, MapReduce, and other big data technologies.
• Familiarity with distributed storage systems including HDFS and S3.
• Experience with platforms like Hadoop or Spark.
• A deep understanding of data partitioning and sharding techniques.
• Strong knowledge of distributed computing principles and their application to large-scale data processing challenges.
• Ability to write clean, performant code at scale using languages like Java, Kotlin, C#, or Go.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL).
• Solid track record writing RESTful API endpoints.
• An absolute love for TDD and practical working knowledge of it.
• Proficiency with GIT for version control.
• Experience using system and performance monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, DataDog).
• *Bonus:* Experience with Agentic AI components.
• A mindset of leveraging AI to code faster and enhance productivity.
• Excellent organizational, critical-thinking, and personal leadership skills.
• A self-starter attitude with the ability to deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.
• Comfort with the inherent challenges and rewards of continuously learning new technologies.

• An analytical mind with a natural aptitude for problem-solving.
• A BSc/BA in Computer Science or a related technical field.
