What You’ll Do
As our Contract Technical Writer, you will be instrumental in shaping the user’s first impression and ongoing interaction with their Lightship. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development of a complete owner manual covering all systems of our electric travel trailer, including propulsion, electrical, camping amenities, storage, troubleshooting, and vital safety information.
- Working hand-in-hand (virtually) with engineering teams to deeply understand intricate technical systems and distill that knowledge into easily digestible content.
- Crafting precise safety warnings, cautions, and operating procedures for all potentially hazardous systems.
- Creating comprehensive troubleshooting guides and recommended maintenance schedules covering both the automotive and RV aspects of the trailer.
- Documenting step-by-step instructions for installation, setup, and operation of camping equipment, electrical systems, and propulsion components.
- Ensuring all documentation strictly adheres to necessary regulatory requirements, including DOT, NHTSA, and RVIA standards.
- Coordinating with internal teams, including designers and engineers, to develop and integrate clear, helpful visuals like diagrams and illustrations.
- Collaborating with our marketing team to ensure the manual aligns with the Lightship brand voice and messaging.
- Delivering the final, polished manual in the agreed-upon format, on schedule, and within the project scope.
- Incorporating feedback from engineering, safety, and other relevant teams throughout the review cycles.
