About the Role
As our Accounting Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind our UK accounting operations. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting while driving process improvements. You’ll be responsible for overseeing month-end and year-end closes, managing key accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS. Key Responsibilities
- Own the complete month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
- Liaise with external auditors and manage the year-end audit process smoothly.
- Oversee payroll accounting and ensure compliance with related filings (e.g., PAYE, P11D) in collaboration with HR and external providers.
- Manage day-to-day accounts payable and employee expense processes with support from junior staff.
- Ensure timely and accurate VAT filings and adherence to other tax compliance obligations.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls and process improvements across the finance function, including documenting processes and accounting policies.
- Lead ad hoc projects such as cross-functional process improvements, M&A integration, and system implementations.
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for a candidate who possesses:
- Full accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Strong proficiency in NetSuite accounting software.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role (ideally for a remote team).
- Experience preparing statutory accounts under UK GAAP and/or IFRS.
- Familiarity with tax compliance (e.g., VAT, corporation tax).
- Hands-on experience processing UK payroll and ensuring compliance with statutory filings and deadlines.
- A solid understanding of internal control design and operational efficiency.
- Exceptional attention to detail, a strong analytical mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Bonus Points:
- Experience in the SaaS or technology sector.
- Exposure to multi-entity or multi-currency operations, including international intercompany transactions and consolidated management reports and financial statements.
- Knowledge of ESG, R&D tax credits, or transfer pricing.
