About the Role

As our Accounting Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind our UK accounting operations. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting while driving process improvements. You’ll be responsible for overseeing month-end and year-end closes, managing key accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS. If you’re a hands-on leader with a knack for building efficient and scalable processes, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

• Own the complete month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
• Liaise with external auditors and manage the year-end audit process smoothly.
• Oversee payroll accounting and ensure compliance with related filings (e.g., PAYE, P11D) in collaboration with HR and external providers.
• Manage day-to-day accounts payable and employee expense processes with support from junior staff.
• Ensure timely and accurate VAT filings and adherence to other tax compliance obligations.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls and process improvements across the finance function, including documenting processes and accounting policies.
• Lead ad hoc projects such as cross-functional process improvements, M&A integration, and system implementations.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for a candidate who possesses:

• Full accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
• Strong proficiency in NetSuite accounting software.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role (ideally for a remote team).
• Experience preparing statutory accounts under UK GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Familiarity with tax compliance (e.g., VAT, corporation tax).
• Hands-on experience processing UK payroll and ensuring compliance with statutory filings and deadlines.
• A solid understanding of internal control design and operational efficiency.
• Exceptional attention to detail, a strong analytical mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Bonus Points:

• Experience in the SaaS or technology sector.
• Exposure to multi-entity or multi-currency operations, including international intercompany transactions and consolidated management reports and financial statements.
• Knowledge of ESG, R&D tax credits, or transfer pricing.
