We’re looking for an Associate Director, AP Assessment Graphics to join our team and play a vital role in shaping the visual experience of AP Exams and instructional materials. In this position, you’ll be integral to the AP Assessment Production Graphics workstream, creating accurate, accessible, and fair graphics that support millions of students and educators.

What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities

Shape the Visual Landscape of AP Assessments

You will be the engine behind the visual accuracy and clarity of AP Assessments. This involves expertly creating and delivering technically accurate graphics that meet strict AP standards. You’ll manage a diverse queue of requests, from intricate graphs, math and science figures, and maps to infographics, realia, and illustrated sequences. Your precision will ensure all deliverables comply with essential accessibility standards, making sure our materials serve *all* students. You’ll also be quick and effective in handling revision requests.

Enhance Processes and Team Collaboration

Beyond creation, you’ll actively contribute to the evolution of our graphical resources and processes. This includes helping develop style guides and expand our asset library. You’ll collaborate closely with team members, providing valuable proofing and QC reviews. Maintaining efficient workflows is key; you’ll manage production schedules dynamically, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines for AP assessment and other resource graphics. Problem-solving, whether independently or collaboratively, for technical issues or process improvements, will be part of your routine. Regular connection with Content and Assessment Production colleagues will be essential for smooth communication and workflow.

Who You Are: Skills and Experience

You bring a strong foundation in design and visual communication, demonstrated by:

• 3+ years of professional experience in technical art, graphic design, or illustration.
• A Bachelor’s degree in design, illustration, or a related field.
• Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. (Experience with Adobe InDesign or other Creative Cloud apps is a strong plus).
• A compelling portfolio showcasing excellent vector graphic and illustration skills.
• Competent photo editing skills.
• Sharp attention to detail.
• A solid understanding of basic mathematical concepts relevant to graphics (scale, ratios, percentages).
• Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel for onsite meetings approximately 3-5 times per year.
• Familiarity with Smartsheet is a bonus.
