The Opportunity: Crafting the Future of Healthcare Work
We are seeking an experienced Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. At Medely, software is at the heart of everything we do, delivering exceptional experiences to both our healthcare professionals and facility partners. In this critical role, you won’t just write code; you’ll be a key contributor in building and maintaining the core platform that powers our marketplace, ensuring it remains robust, scalable, and innovative.
As a senior member, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the company, influencing technical strategy and driving end-to-end execution. We value product craftsmanship and expect a keen eye for design, not only in the user-facing product but also in the code and technical architecture that underpins it.
What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, and deploy high-quality, maintainable code using Ruby on Rails.
- Lead the analysis, design, and continuous improvement of our platform’s architecture, software components, and development processes.
- Translate product requirements and technical designs into well-engineered, robust, and low-defect code.
- Research and propose new technologies or methodologies that can enhance our architecture, user experience, or development efficiency.
- Champion code quality through leading code reviews, advocating for testing best practices (unit, system, regression), and ensuring system stability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production and non-production environments.
- Collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver impactful features.
What You’ll Bring: Skills & Experience
You’ll be a great fit if you have:
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- At least 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and deploying applications in a production environment using Ruby on Rails.
- Strong proficiency with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
- Deep understanding of designing and interacting with RESTful APIs.
- Solid foundation in software engineering fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience working with and understanding how front-end applications (JavaScript frameworks, mobile apps) interact with backend services.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Why Join Medely? Our Benefits & Culture
We believe in taking care of our team. Joining Medely means enjoying:
- Competitive Compensation based on your experience and performance.
- Long-term incentives, including a 401k plan.
- Comprehensive Healthcare Benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Generous Paid Time Off (20 days) and 11 paid holidays, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
- Paid parental leave.
- The opportunity to work fully remote with the tools and culture to support productivity and collaboration from anywhere.
- Direct ownership and impact within a growing, mission-oriented startup that is modernizing the healthcare industry.
