As a Benefits Program Manager, you’ll play a vital role in shaping and delivering best-in-class health, retirement, and wellness programs, impacting over 50 million customers worldwide.
About the Role
This is a 100% remote, W2 contract position (6+ months) requiring Pacific Time hours. As an individual contributor, you’ll leverage your expertise to resolve escalated benefit issues, build strong partnerships, and ensure the seamless delivery of benefits to our client’s employees. You will be working to resolve escalated benefit issues in a timely manner, creating credibility, and partnering with internal and external partners. You’ll be a champion for putting the employee first, creating a culture of trust and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Offerings, IT, Payroll), external consultants, and vendors to implement benefit changes and new programs accurately.
- Establish and nurture relationships with HR Partners, business leaders, and employees to understand and meet their benefits needs.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on benefit programs, resolving complex issues within defined SLAs (48-72 hours for non-complex, 5 business days for complex).
- Manage multiple complex projects and deadlines effectively.
- Conduct thorough root cause analysis, impact assessments, and present recommendations to senior leadership for complex issues.
- Lead vendor management activities, including regular meetings, performance monitoring, and service improvement plans.
- Actively participate in Annual Enrollment preparation and user acceptance testing to ensure system accuracy and a seamless member experience.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Conduct benefit training for partner teams and external vendors.
- Manage audit schedules, review results, and prioritize necessary improvements.
- Partner with technical teams and payroll to ensure data accuracy and interface functionality.
- Monitor and understand regulatory changes impacting benefit administration.
- Prepare and monitor ERISA, CMS, ACA, and state-related filings to ensure Plan compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 6 years of benefits program management experience.
- Proven project management skills with a track record of successful implementation.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis and program metrics.
- Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous situations.
- Strong business judgment and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Successful experience building and improving operational processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
- Experience with HRIS/Payroll systems; Workday, ADP Payroll, and Alight preferred.
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, ADA, COBRA, FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, FSA, and HSA.
- Strong knowledge of health and welfare benefit programs.
- Understanding of confidentiality in handling HR data.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of benefits program management, administration, and governance.
- PHR or CBP preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay: $50-55/hr.
