Are you a passionate and skilled writer with a knack for crafting compelling narratives? Amey is seeking a talented Bid Writer to join our thriving Work Winning team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in securing exciting new projects within the dynamic world of highways and rail infrastructure.
Your Mission: Craft Winning Proposals
As a key member of our team, you will collaborate closely with the Bid Director, Head of Proposals, Bid Manager, and Proposals Manager to develop persuasive and high-quality bids and proposals. Your exceptional writing skills will showcase Amey’s strengths and ensure our submissions stand out from the competition. You’ll be instrumental in transforming complex technical information into clear, concise, and engaging content that resonates with our clients.
You will contribute to a growing and ambitious team, working on bids with values ranging from £50k to over £1bn.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Drafting compelling bid responses that align with Amey’s brand voice and key win themes, under the guidance of senior team members.
- Creating original content for Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and bids, and editing existing materials for clarity and impact.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts to gather essential information and supporting evidence.
- Participating in review cycles (Pink, Red, and Gold) to ensure the highest quality submissions.
- Analyzing client requirements, compliance guidelines, and evaluation criteria to maximize scoring potential.
- Contributing to storyboarding workshops to develop well-structured and client-focused responses.
- Exploring and leveraging new technologies, including AI tools, to optimize the bid writing process.
- Conducting interviews with subject matter experts to develop technically sound and engaging content.
- Developing value propositions and win themes that clearly differentiate Amey and align with client priorities.
- Monitoring the quality of written content to ensure consistency and maximum impact.
- Conducting final editing and proofreading to guarantee readability, accuracy, and consistency.
- Sourcing relevant content and best practices from our Content Library and past successful bids.
- Supporting post-tender lessons learned to drive continuous improvement in our bid writing strategies.

What You’ll Bring to the Table
We are looking for a talented and driven individual with the following:
- A degree-level qualification in English or a related field (desirable).
- Proven experience in bid writing.
- Experience in highways or rail bidding, or local authority work.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and be self-motivated.
