Business Development Manager, Government Services

Are you a driven and results-oriented Business Development Manager with a passion for building relationships and driving growth within the public sector? Our Toxicology Business Unit is seeking a dynamic leader to spearhead our expansion within Government Services. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives to capture new business and nurture existing relationships with federal, state, and county agencies. What You’ll Do

As our Business Development Manager, Government Services, you will be at the forefront of our growth initiatives. Your core responsibilities will include:

You will develop and execute strategic sales plans specifically tailored for the public sector, aiming to significantly expand our market share. A critical part of your role will be to identify, build, and nurture robust relationships with key decision-makers within large federal, state, and county-level government agencies. You will lead, mentor, and manage dedicated sales and service teams, ensuring they are motivated, perform at their best, and align with strategic goals. Staying informed is key; you’ll constantly monitor market trends and competitor activities to pinpoint new growth opportunities. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the organization to enhance our offerings and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction. Data-driven decision-making is vital; you will be responsible for predicting sales revenue, tracking performance against targets, and maintaining accurate sales funnel and forecasting data. Finally, you will represent the company at industry events and professional networks to build our brand and expand your reach.

What You’ll Bring

To succeed in this crucial role, you’ll possess a strong foundation of experience and key skills:

Minimum Requirements:

You must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. This is complemented by substantial professional experience, requiring a minimum of 7 years in sales management and a minimum of 10 years in direct sales.

Essential Experience & Skills:

You have a proven track record of success in sales and business development, demonstrating strong selling capabilities. Your ability to effectively identify, engage, and influence key decision-makers is well-established. You bring demonstrated leadership experience in managing sales and service teams. A growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement defines your approach. You possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. You are inherently customer-centric, with a deep commitment to delivering exceptional experiences. You have experience presenting compelling business insights to executive-level leaders and successfully collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve objectives. You are adept at using analytical skills and financial acumen to influence positive business outcomes. Advanced PC skills, including creating executive-level presentations in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, are required.

Highly Valued (Preferred):

While not strictly required, experience working directly with government agencies and a solid understanding of the government procurement process is strongly preferred. An MBA is also a significant asset, reflecting the strategic nature of the role.

Travel:

This position requires the ability to travel domestically up to 50% of the time.
