As Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) gains momentum across new markets, we’re expanding our team and seeking a passionate External Sales Consultant to drive growth in Emerging Markets.
Your Mission: Building Relationships and Driving Growth
As a Senior Associate Sales, you’ll be a key player in driving profitable sales, enhancing customer retention, and strengthening our brand presence within Colorado and Oregon. Working with top national and regional brokers, you’ll act as a marketing and technical expert, promoting our Employee Benefits Division and empowering partners to recommend our solutions to their clients.
Important: This role requires you to be based in Maryland with the ability to travel extensively (3+ days per week) within the designated territory. This position will be titled Sr Associate Sales within our organization
Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivate, maintain, and deepen broker relationships through exceptional product knowledge, effective territory management, and outstanding service.
- Achieve individual and team sales targets by identifying new business opportunities and strategically positioning our offerings within defined profitability guidelines.
- Manage a high volume of quality quote requests, primarily focused on small to mid-sized employers, while diligently managing your pipeline, sales forecasts, and win/loss analysis.
- Implement the company’s annual renewal strategy to retain existing clients.
- Utilize data and market intelligence tools to enhance broker prospecting, profiling, and planning.
- Collaborate effectively with Inside Sales, Sales Support, and Underwriting teams to secure and retain business.
- Apply consultative selling techniques by understanding broker and employer needs and clearly articulating our value proposition.
- Contribute to a high-performance sales culture by maintaining a sense of urgency, a positive attitude, and a team-oriented approach.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of experience in group insurance, including established broker relationships.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Licenses required upon hire
Compensation & Benefits: Invested in You
Protective values its employees. The targeted compensation for this position is $70,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. This position also includes cash compensation as a part of a sales incentive plan (SIP).
