Fullstack Software Engineer
Job Description
Remote Frontend Developer | Digital Health | Anywhere in the U.S.
Location: This is a fully remote position, open to candidates located anywhere within the United States. While occasional in-person meetings might occur (rarely, perhaps a couple per year), your primary workspace is wherever you choose it to be in the US.
About Tellescope
We’re building the future of the digital patient experience in healthcare. At Tellescope, we provide digital health companies with a purpose-built, HIPAA-compliant CRM platform. Unlike generic solutions adapted for healthcare, our platform is designed from the ground up to meet the unique needs of modern digital health businesses.
Our comprehensive solution centralizes everything needed to manage and scale patient relationships efficiently: omnichannel communication, scheduling, forms, task management, and a powerful no-code automation builder. We empower companies to streamline outreach, simplify onboarding, and nurture ongoing patient connections.
We’re a lean, 7-person team, intensely focused on execution and scaling past our current success. A key differentiator? We are profitable and not reliant on external funding for survival, giving us stability and control over our destiny. We pride ourselves on offering white-glove onboarding and exceptionally responsive support to our customers.
Why Join Our Team?
As our 8th hire and first full-time engineering hire, you’ll join a small, high-impact team where your contributions are immediately visible and critical to our growth. You’ll report directly to our Technical Founder, Sebastian, and play a pivotal role in shaping our product’s future.
This is a unique opportunity to get your hands dirty, directly impact our codebase, and help deliver the next evolution of Tellescope to our customers. We value kindness, building meaningful customer relationships, and writing high-quality code. Every team member has the chance to make a significant positive impact on our customers and, most importantly, their patients’ lives.
The Opportunity: Frontend Developer
We’ve built our entire product in-house and are currently undertaking an exciting refactoring of our UX/UI. We need a talented developer to help accelerate the frontend development of this redesigned interface. While your initial focus will be heavily on the frontend, this role is designed to grow, incorporating more backend development over time.
What You’ll Be Building
You will be instrumental in bringing our new, intuitive UI to life and ensuring its robustness and scalability. Key responsibilities include:
- Connecting APIs to React Components to create dynamic, responsive user interfaces.
- Developing strong abstractions and utilizing React Hooks to ensure code reusability and maintainability.
- Writing comprehensive test coverage for UI, logic, and API interactions.
- Developing scripts and UI elements that empower customers to easily configure Tellescope to their specific workflows.
- Writing efficient MongoDB queries and optimizing the performance of existing features.
- Developing new, secure API endpoints to support evolving functionality.
- Assisting in reproducing and resolving bugs quickly and effectively.
- Consistently adhering to Tellescope’s security, privacy, and compliance standards, including HIPAA and SOC2.
What We’re Looking For
You must possess a strong technical background with proven experience making meaningful code contributions to production codebases. If you haven’t had this experience or contributed substantially to established open-source projects, this role is likely not the right fit at this time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of professional frontend development experience.
- Strong proficiency with TypeScript and React (Web), including a deep understanding of React Hooks and functional components.
- Experience with Node.js.
- Familiarity with React Native.
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and consuming REST APIs.
- Experience working with Git and platforms like GitHub (preferred) or other version control systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with designers using tools like Figma.
- Work experience with Storybook or similar UI testing frameworks.
- Experience working at an early-stage startup or within organizations utilizing SCRUM or Agile methodologies.
- Knowledge or experience working with EHRs, CRM, Practice Management, or other Digital Health infrastructure tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience complying with HIPAA-compliance requirements in development practices.
- Must be based in the U.S.
Bonus Points / Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with QA, debugging, and implementing fixes for UI/UX issues.
- Experience leveraging AI Tools like GitHub Co-Pilot.
- Familiarity or experience within the broader HealthTech space.
- A history and/or interest in contributing to Open Source projects (a portion of Tellescope’s codebase is open source).
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: $90,000 – $120,000 Annually
- Equity: 0.10% – 0.15% Ownership
- Vacation: Enjoy Unlimited Paid Time Off. We trust you to manage your time effectively; just give us a heads-up when you plan to take time off.
- Retirement: We offer a 401(k) plan with an employer match to help you save for your future.
- Health & Dental: While we don’t currently offer traditional group health or dental plans, we plan to offer an ICHRA plan to employees in the near future, providing flexibility for your healthcare needs.
