The Opportunity: Head of Talent
We’re seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Talent to own and elevate our talent acquisition function. This is a pivotal role where you will directly impact our growth by building and scaling a vibrant, diverse, and high-performing team from end-to-end. You’ll collaborate closely with our leadership team to shape our recruiting strategy, optimize our processes, and champion our culture as we continue to expand.
Key Responsibilities
As our Head of Talent, you will:
Lead & Define Strategy: Own and continuously evolve Vetcove’s comprehensive, full-cycle talent acquisition strategy across all departments, ensuring alignment with business goals and market trends.
Build & Mentor Teams: Lead, coach, and develop a small, high-performing team of recruiters and coordinators, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Drive Collaborative Hiring: Partner closely with our Executive team and hiring managers to deeply understand their unique needs and design efficient, effective hiring plans for every role.
Optimize the Engine: Build and maintain a data-driven recruiting infrastructure with clear metrics, robust pipelines, and accurate tracking to measure success and identify areas for optimization.
Shape Our Brand: Champion and drive impactful employer branding initiatives that authentically reflect Vetcove’s culture and attract top talent in the competitive tech and animal health landscape.
Innovate Sourcing: Implement creative, scrappy, and effective sourcing strategies, especially for challenging-to-fill or highly specialized roles.
Manage Systems & Processes: Own and optimize our ATS (Applicant Tracking System) and other recruiting tools, continuously improving workflows for efficiency, compliance, and an exceptional candidate experience.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for a Head of Talent with:
Proven Experience: Minimum 6+ years of experience in Talent Acquisition, with at least 2+ years in a dedicated leadership or management capacity.
Growth Environment Success: Demonstrated success building and scaling recruiting processes and teams, ideally within a fast-paced or growth-stage company environment.
Strategic & Operational Acumen: Exceptional ability to balance high-level strategic thinking with hands-on operational execution.
Collaborative Leadership: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of partnering effectively across all levels of an organization, including executive leadership.
Talent Tech Proficiency: Solid knowledge of modern ATS systems and other recruiting technologies, with experience in process optimization.
Data-Driven Approach: Highly analytical mindset with a strong bias toward data-informed decision-making and continuous iteration.
Adaptability & Resilience: Comfort operating in dynamic environments, embracing ambiguity, and wearing multiple hats as needed in a scaling company.

Compensation
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $100,000 – $160,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Please note that specific work locations may have a different range (e.g., the estimated range for Colorado is $110,000 – $140,000 + bonus + equity + benefits). Actual compensation is based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
This range reflects the base compensation and does not include additional incentives like bonus or equity. Vetcove also offers a comprehensive benefits package detailed in the “Benefits & Perks” section above.
