Job Description

Join Our Team as a People Operations Specialist!

At New Engen, we’re not just helping brands grow; we’re building smarter, more impactful strategies across the entire customer journey. As a leading digital marketing agency, we seamlessly integrate media, creative, analytics, influencer, and retail expertise to deliver performance-driven results. From long-term partnerships to specialized solutions like Donut Studios (our in-house creative hub) and Acorn Creator Suite (our retail-focused influencer platform), we operate as one collaborative team, committed to the success of our clients and each other. We’re a diverse group of strategists, creatives, analysts, and makers who work hard, stay humble, and build with purpose. If you’re passionate about supporting a dynamic team in a fast-paced industry, this mid-level role could be your next challenge.

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and employee-focused People Operations Specialist to join our People Team. In this vital role, you will be the backbone of our HR operations, ensuring smooth processes, accurate data, and a positive experience for every team member. You’ll play a key part in managing our core HR systems, supporting the employee lifecycle, and contributing to overall operational excellence as we continue to scale.

What You’ll Do to Make an Impact

You’ll own critical pieces of our People function, including:

Being the Owner of Our HR Systems & Data

Serve as the primary administrator for our HRIS (Human Resources Information System), such as Rippling. You’ll be responsible for system configuration, maintaining data accuracy, managing user permissions, and ensuring our core People technology runs efficiently.

Navigating the Employee Journey

Lead the coordination and execution of our onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a supportive, organized, and memorable experience for employees as they join and transition from New Engen.

Driving Operational Excellence

Ensure the integrity and accuracy of employee data across various platforms. Partner closely with our Payroll function to process updates, resolve discrepancies, and proactively identify potential issues.

Serving as a Trusted Resource

Act as a friendly and knowledgeable first point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and systems, escalating complex matters appropriately and with care.

Supporting People Programs

Play a hands-on role in the setup and execution of key People programs like performance reviews, employee engagement surveys, and other initiatives designed to support team development and well-being.

Building Efficiency Through Documentation

Maintain and enhance our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), HR templates, and workflow management tools like ClickUp. Your organizational skills will keep the People Team aligned and on track.

Generating Valuable Insights

Develop and distribute People metrics and reports, translating data into meaningful stories that help us understand our team’s needs and inform strategic decisions.

Ensuring Compliance & Accuracy

Support efforts to maintain alignment with legal and regulatory requirements across multiple states, partnering with our EOR (Employer of Record) services as needed.

Contributing to Team Initiatives

Provide support for broader People Team projects and ad hoc requests, helping us scale thoughtfully with a focus on structure, empathy, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

We’re looking for someone with:

Core HR Expertise

2-3 years of hands-on experience in HR operations, with a solid understanding of core People processes and systems.

Systems Savvy

Familiarity with various HR platforms, such as HRIS, Payroll, ATS, and Performance Management tools (e.g., Rippling, Paylocity, JazzHR, Lattice). Experience with project management tools (e.g., ClickUp, Monday.com, Asana) is also essential.

A Keen Eye for Detail

Exceptional attention to detail and a genuine passion for organization, accuracy, and driving efficiency in workflows.

Data Fluency

Comfort working with HR data, including analyzing information and applying it to support operational improvements and reporting.

A Service-Oriented Mindset

You are responsive, thoughtful, and skilled at balancing the needs of the business with providing a positive employee experience.

Strong Communication Skills

The ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and empathetically with a variety of stakeholders across the company.

A Proactive Problem-Solver Attitude

You approach challenges with a solutions-first mindset, knowing when to seek clarification, act independently, or escalate effectively.

Adaptability & Discretion

Comfort navigating ambiguity in a fast-moving environment while working independently. You demonstrate a high degree of discretion and professionalism, especially when handling sensitive or confidential information.

Bonus Points if You Have:

  • Experience in a startup, agency, or multi-state organization.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
  • Experience supporting DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) programs or initiatives.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Beyond the challenging and impactful work, you’ll be part of a collaborative team that genuinely cares about each other’s success. We foster a supportive environment where you can grow your career and make a real difference.
