Sitting at the heart of our platform strategy, you’ll collaborate closely with our Developer Enablement and Software Engineering functions to build the resilient, performant, and secure systems that power our world-leading Earth observation capabilities.

What You’ll Do

• Strategic Team Leadership: Lead the successful merger and integration of two infrastructure teams into a single, high-performing unit, fostering a shared culture, vision, and technical direction.
• Hybrid Infrastructure Evolution: Define and execute a cohesive hybrid cloud infrastructure roadmap, driving consistency and alignment in tools, processes, and architecture across on-premise data centers and the AWS Cloud ecosystem.
• Platform Enablement: Champion collaboration with our Developer Enablement and Software Engineering teams to build scalable, self-service platform infrastructure that significantly accelerates development cycles and innovation.
• Technical Stewardship: Provide technical leadership and oversight for key platform components, including Kubernetes (leveraging GitOps workflows, ideally Flux CD), Istio service mesh, Rancher for cluster management, and on-prem virtualization technologies like VxRail / vSphere.
• Security & Identity Integration: Partner with Security and IT teams to integrate and standardize identity and access management systems, primarily using Okta, ensuring robust security, compliance, and access controls are consistent across all environments.
• Operational Excellence & Automation: Instill and champion a culture of operational excellence, driving best practices in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), comprehensive monitoring and observability, CI/CD, disaster recovery, and overall system reliability.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure or platform engineering, with a minimum of 2+ years in a technical leadership or management capacity.
• Transformation Leadership: A proven track record of successfully leading teams through organizational change, technical transformation, or large-scale infrastructure integration projects.
• Deep Technical Acumen: Extensive hands-on expertise across key technologies, including:
• AWS Cloud ecosystem services.
• Kubernetes, with demonstrated experience in cluster management and GitOps workflows (experience with Flux CD highly preferred).
• Istio, Rancher, or other leading service mesh and container orchestration management tools.
• On-premise infrastructure components, including VxRail, vSphere, and object storage solutions like Cloudiant.
• Experience integrating identity and access management systems across cloud and on-prem environments, particularly with Okta.
• Infrastructure Fundamentals: Strong understanding of infrastructure automation, complex networking concepts, and security best practices.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with a pragmatic, collaborative, and results-oriented approach.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have…

• Experience in the aerospace, defense, or satellite technology sectors.
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud strategies and edge computing concepts.
• Previous involvement in developer enablement or platform-as-a-product initiatives.
