Your Opportunity: Research and Policy Associate with Deel Lab

Deel is looking for a passionate Research and Policy Associate to join our innovative Deel Lab in collaboration with the Conflict Analytics Lab at Queen’s University! Help shape global employment policy by contributing to critical discussions about the future of work. This role offers a unique blend of academic research and real-world impact, contributing to the creation of cutting-edge legal AI technologies.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with the research team at Queen’s University for 4-5 weeks on publications related to labor and employment law.
  • Assist in developing legal compliance technology, including drafting reports and annotating case law.
  • Consult on key legal questions in dispute resolution.
  • Conduct legal and policy research using modern empirical methods.
  • Focus on key research areas:
    • Worker Classification
    • Legal status of contractors and employees engaged through Employer of Record services
    • Collective bargaining rights for contractors
    • Global pension system for contractors
    • Social security and healthcare benefits for contractors
    • Legal remote-work issues
    • Value of remote work

What You’ll Bring:

  • Completed law school or current enrollment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of the Egyptian Legal system.
  • Experience with legal and policy research.
  • Proactive, autonomous, resilient, and adaptable mindset.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding writing skills in English & Arabic.
  • Knowledge of labor law is a plus.
