The Opportunity: Shaping Our IT Infrastructure
We are seeking a talented and experienced IT Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a critical role in building and maintaining a robust, secure, and high-performance infrastructure that supports our business-critical users and applications. What You’ll Do:
As an IT Systems Engineer at xAI, you will:
- Build, manage, and support complex application stacks on Windows and Linux Servers.
- Provide expert Windows and Linux troubleshooting and technical support.
- Deploy, configure, and support VMware technologies (vCenter, ESX, Horizon) to create a scalable virtualized environment.
- Utilize Puppet Enterprise for advanced configuration automation and management.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and vendors to implement scalable solutions.
- Ensure compliance by working closely with internal audit and compliance teams.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive standard operating procedures.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation to ensure system availability.
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure proactively.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems and system management tools.
- Monitor and optimize application performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
- Create and maintain custom scripts to enhance system efficiency and automation.
Who You Are:
You are a highly skilled and motivated IT Systems Engineer with a passion for infrastructure management and automation. You thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and possess a strong desire to enhance system performance and reliability.
Ideally, you’ll also bring:
- 3-5 years of experience in Systems Engineering for Corporate Infrastructure.
- Proven experience managing large-scale Windows and Linux server environments.
- Experience with virtualization at scale.
- Deep understanding of Configuration Management principles.
- Experience managing scalable storage solutions, preferably NetApp.
- Experience developing and maintaining performance metrics for systems.
- A solid understanding of Puppet Enterprise and Puppet Open Source.
- Solid understanding of basic networking concepts.
- Experience with NetApp storage arrays.
- The ability to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience writing technical design documents and maintaining thorough documentation.
- Familiarity with working in a source-controlled environment.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, or Perl).
- Experience with VMware services, including VMware data center virtualization and VMware Horizon.
Bonus Points:
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
- Knowledge of orchestration tools.

Compensation & Benefits
Annual Salary Range: $162,000 – $226,000
Our total rewards package includes equity, comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, disability and life insurance, and various discounts and perks.
