The Opportunity: Manager, Clinical Rater Training & Operations

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager, Clinical Rater Training & Operations to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will lead and mentor a team of talented coordinators and associates, overseeing the successful execution and timely delivery of complex clinical trial programs. Accountable for the performance of your team, you will ensure quality, manage relationships with key stakeholders (sites, raters, sponsors), and play a critical part in advancing our mission through effective rater training and clinical operations oversight.

What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor, train, and manage the performance of a team of Rater Training Coordinators and Associates (typically 1-4 direct reports).
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, managing morale and promoting excellence.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, providing guidance and quality control for team deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development and mentoring of project management and clinical staff members across the department.

Clinical Program & Project Oversight

  • Manage the delivery of a complex portfolio of Phase I-IV clinical trials, ensuring adherence to statements of work (SOW) and managing project budgets.
  • Ensure timely delivery of project tasks, materials, and regulatory reporting status to senior leadership and Project Managers.
  • Proactively track, manage, and communicate key project deliverables to internal and external stakeholders, maintaining impeccable records.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers to ensure seamless execution and meet study timelines.

Rater Training Program Development & Delivery

  • Collaborate with internal and external experts to develop comprehensive rater training curriculums and materials for clinical trials.
  • Oversee the creation of rater selection tools, training presentations (covering rating scales), quizzes, and practice materials.
  • Work with third-party vendors to leverage and manage online platforms, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), supporting efficient rater training delivery.

Stakeholder Engagement & Quality Assurance

  • Cultivate strong relationships with study sites, raters, CRAs, and sponsors, acting as a key point of contact.
  • Provide robust quality management and oversight for all assigned clinical trial programs.

Strategic & Process Improvement Initiatives

  • Support Directors in business development activities, including bid defenses and proposal development (including budget contributions).
  • Lead or contribute to departmental process improvement initiatives and commercialization efforts.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a related scientific field, or equivalent professional experience. A graduate degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of clinical trial management experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 2+ years with a graduate degree.
  • Proven direct supervisory experience of 2+ years, leading and developing staff.
  • Understanding of neuropsychological tests and patient/caregiver reported outcomes (PRO/CROs).
  • Working knowledge of clinical trials, regulatory and legal processes, and the clinical development lifecycle, including the ability to review clinical protocols.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders and manage conflict effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple competing priorities, and maintain impeccable record-keeping.
  • High level of computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel), and a general understanding of information technology concepts.
  • A strong desire to learn, seek feedback, and continuously improve.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in Mandarin (spoken and written) is a plus, though not required.

Location Requirement

This role requires the candidate to be based on the West Coast of the United States.
