Campspot is seeking a strategic and hands-on Principal DevOps Engineer to spearhead the evolution of our cutting-edge, cloud-native infrastructure. Your Mission: Infrastructure Visionary and Cloud Optimization Expert
As our Principal DevOps Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of driving our infrastructure strategy, leading critical cross-team initiatives, and optimizing our cloud expenditure. You’ll be instrumental in defining and implementing best practices across all aspects of deployment, observability, and security.
- Own the Kubernetes Platform: Architect, manage, and scale our EKS clusters using the latest best practices to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Standardize Deployments with Helm: Design, build, and maintain robust Helm charts to facilitate scalable and consistent application deployments across our environment.
- Manage Cloud Infrastructure in AWS: Leverage Terraform and Terragrunt to define and manage reproducible infrastructure-as-code, ensuring consistency across all environments.
- Analyze and Optimize Cloud Costs: Proactively monitor AWS usage and implement innovative strategies to minimize unnecessary spending without compromising performance or reliability.
- Drive Observability and Reliability: Implement and maintain comprehensive metrics, logging, and alerting systems to ensure maximum availability and performance of our applications.
- Security and Access Controls: Enforce least-privilege IAM policies, implement secure networking configurations, and establish effective secrets management practices.
- Lead Cross-Team Initiatives: Collaborate closely with development, product, and security teams to design cutting-edge infrastructure solutions and drive large-scale engineering initiatives.
- Mentor and Guide: Serve as a senior technical mentor, sharing your expertise and setting the standard for DevOps excellence across the organization.
What You’ll Bring to the Campspot Team
We’re looking for someone who embodies our values of learning, collaboration, and innovation. The ideal candidate will possess:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Infrastructure, or SRE roles, with at least 2+ years in a senior or principal-level position.
- Deep, practical experience with AWS services (EKS, EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, etc.).
- Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes in production environments.
- Strong proficiency with Helm for application lifecycle management.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Terraform and Terragrunt.
- Comfort scripting in Bash, Python, or Go.
- Experience building and maintaining GitOps workflows (e.g., Argo CD).
- A proven track record of monitoring, analyzing, and reducing AWS costs.
- A strong understanding of Linux, networking, and cloud security principles.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, leadership-oriented mindset.
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience in regulated or high-compliance environments (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI).
- Familiarity with tools like Karpenter, ExternalDNS, or EBS CSI driver.
- Contributions to open source or DevOps communities.

- Base salary: $155,000 – $180,000
