Job Description

Join Oklo: Procurement Specialist, Products Division

Are you ready to play a critical role in bringing advanced clean energy to the world? Oklo is seeking a motivated and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our innovative Products Division team. This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment focused on making advanced fission a reality.

About the Opportunity

As a key member of our team, you will manage and oversee the full lifecycle of procurement for design, construction, commodities, and services. This mid-level role requires a sharp focus on ensuring compliance, negotiating optimal terms, and directly supporting the timely and efficient delivery of our groundbreaking projects. We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in procurement processes, particularly within the construction industry. Experience in the nuclear industry and familiarity with nuclear quality assurance standards are highly valued assets.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Shape Contracts & Partnerships:

You will be instrumental in developing, issuing, and managing essential procurement documents, including RFPs, Purchase Orders (PO), Master Service Agreements (MSA), and task orders. This involves expertly evaluating and negotiating terms with vendors to align with project needs and budgets. You’ll also collaborate closely with legal and project teams to draft and finalize critical construction contracts.

Build & Manage Relationships:

Identify, qualify, and maintain a robust network of trusted construction contractors and suppliers. You’ll cultivate strong working relationships, ensuring vendors meet contractual obligations and performance benchmarks. You’ll also be a key point of contact for internal stakeholders throughout the procurement phase, proactively addressing questions and resolving issues.

Ensure Compliance & Mitigate Risk:

Uphold the highest standards by ensuring all procurement activities adhere to company policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices. You will proactively identify and mitigate risks within procurement and contract management. A crucial part of this is monitoring contractor performance and adherence to terms, with particular attention to upholding stringent nuclear quality assurance standards where applicable.

Analyze Markets & Control Costs:

Conduct insightful market research to stay ahead of trends, pricing, and supplier capabilities, particularly within the construction and nuclear sectors. You’ll analyze bids and proposals to ensure optimal value and alignment with project objectives, collaborating with project teams to maintain budgetary discipline and project timelines.

Report & Document Progress:

Maintain meticulous procurement records and documentation essential for audits and reporting. Prepare clear, concise reports on procurement status, progress, and cost analysis for senior leadership.

What You’ll Bring to Oklo

Your Experience & Expertise:

You should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, with a strong preference for backgrounds involving construction contracts. Proven expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and vendor management is essential. Experience specifically within the nuclear industry or on projects requiring nuclear quality assurance is highly desirable.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • A deep understanding of construction industry standards, regulations, and processes.
  • Ability to implement robust, end-to-end integrated procurement and supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with nuclear quality assurance requirements (e.g., NQA-1) is a significant advantage.
  • Proficiency with procurement software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.

Required Certifications:

Possession of a Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) OR a Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations (CIPS) is required.

Bonus Qualifications (Nice to Have):

Experience with ASME Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) standards criteria, particularly regarding safety-related requirements. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms (e.g., NetSuite) and finance-related software (e.g., Ramp) are advantageous. Certified International Procurement Manager (CIPM) or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) certifications are also a plus.

About You: Thriving at Oklo

You are more than just a resume; you are a key contributor ready to make an impact in a startup environment. You’re not focused on hierarchy but on efficiency and results. You thrive in a fast-paced setting and are comfortable working with autonomy while embracing teamwork. You bring genuine motivation and passion, seeing your work as contributing to a larger, exciting vision.

  • You are a true team-player, prioritizing collective success over individual credit.
  • You are an excellent communicator, clear, articulate, and positive – and you can write a compelling cover letter!
  • You are inherently creative, unafraid to tackle ambiguous problems and propose novel solutions, even when outside established processes.
  • You are highly detail-oriented, understanding that precision is crucial for quality and professionalism.
  • You are passionate about making advanced fission a reality and eager to learn quickly.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $120,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Oklo offers a competitive benefits package including flexible time off, equity options, 401k, health insurance, FSA, flexible work hours, and more.
