The Role: Localisation Expert, Markets Team
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Localisation Expert to join our dynamic Markets team. This pivotal role is critical to our global expansion, focusing on equipping our product and engineering teams with the essential market-specific knowledge needed to ensure Kraken performs optimally around the world.
The Markets Team: Navigating Global Specifics
The Markets group is responsible for configuring Kraken to thrive within the unique landscape of each country. This involves deep understanding of local regulatory environments, language nuances, and the intricate details of operating within the electricity, gas, and utility sectors. Itβs a complex, technical area demanding high precision and adherence to compliance.
Making an Impact: Your Responsibilities
As a Localisation Expert, you will be instrumental in creating and implementing a scalable “playbook” to guide various teams through the localization process for new markets. Your work will involve:
- Becoming the central point of contact for all localization-related inquiries.
- Engaging with internal subject matter experts, external consultants, and clients to gather crucial market intelligence (e.g., tax codes, metering standards, billing regulations).
- Compiling, organizing, and clearly distributing collected market details to engineering, product, and delivery teams.
- Developing a repeatable framework and checklist for market discovery in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Scheduling and coordinating training sessions to educate teams on new market requirements.
- Providing insights on the level of effort required for market entry from a localization perspective.
- Working autonomously and asynchronously with our international teams.
This role requires significant written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively manage disparate information sources. Comfort with travel and operating in multiple languages is expected.

- Knowledge of the energy industry, particularly related to smart/non-smart meters, meter data, or meter operations, is a significant advantage.
- Experience with technical documentation like data format guidelines, process diagrams, or energy regulation is beneficial.
