The Opportunity: Senior IT Support Specialist
Are you an expert IT professional ready to take ownership and drive technical excellence? We are seeking an autonomous and highly skilled Senior IT Support Specialist to become a cornerstone of our internal IT operations. In this critical role, you will provide expert-level support and administration across Aker’s core technology stack, including Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, and AWS. You will serve as the ultimate escalation point for complex technical challenges, playing a vital role in operational security, infrastructure health, and service delivery. Beyond day-to-day support, you’ll have the opportunity to strategically shape the future of Aker’s internal IT support processes and governance capabilities, collaborating closely with IT leadership, Product teams, and end users to ensure our corporate IT performs to the highest standards.
What You’ll Do
Lead System & Platform Management
Oversee the administration and configuration of our Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, Outlook, SharePoint, Intune, Teams, OneDrive, and Microsoft Dynamics. Take strategic ownership of user and group identity management within Azure Active Directory and AWS IAM. Be accountable for optimizing the health, performance, and security of our SharePoint Online sites. Govern and administer internal platforms like JIRA and Confluence, managing application deployment, integration, and decommissioning of IT services. Own the management and configuration of our remote support tools, including Apple Business Manager, Mobile Device Manager (MDM), and Zscaler.
Expert Technical Troubleshooting & Escalation
Serve as the primary point of escalation for resolving complex IT issues spanning endpoints, cloud services, and networks. Diagnose and resolve intricate OS, network, and storage-related problems across both Windows and macOS systems. Manage comprehensive system patching, updates, and ensure compliance with security configurations. Independently conduct thorough root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives for recurring technical issues.
Fortify Security & Ensure Compliance
Independently lead the implementation and enforcement of BYOD policies, configure and manage VPN access, and ensure robust endpoint protection. Monitor system usage, audit logs, and quota settings, generating performance and compliance reports. Independently manage critical IT controls and be accountable for adherence to frameworks such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, and NIST.
Enable & Educate Our Team
Independently deliver effective onboarding and ongoing training for internal users. Provide strategic enablement and mentoring, empowering colleagues to leverage our technology effectively. Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and build out our internal knowledge base articles, particularly focused on M365 and collaboration tools.
What You’ll Bring
Your Experience & Skills
You’ll possess at least 7+ years of hands-on experience in IT support and systems administration. This includes strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Intune, OneDrive, Microsoft Dynamics) and robust experience with Azure Active Directory and AWS user/admin management. You are highly skilled in supporting both Microsoft Windows and macOS environments, comfortable using Powershell and Graph API for automation and management. A solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including VPN, IP, DNS, and SMTP, is essential. You demonstrate strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills, with the ability to work autonomously and prioritize effectively in a high-demand environment. Experience providing strategic input to an IT maturity plan is also required.
Essential Certifications
You must hold the following certifications:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
Microsoft Certified: MS-900 and/or AZ-900
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
