Join Our Team as a Senior Mass Markets DBA
Are you a seasoned Database Administrator (DBA) passionate about optimizing performance and ensuring the reliability of critical systems? Lumen is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mass Markets DBA to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for providing top-tier database support, contributing to the stability and scalability of our Mass Markets databases.
Key Responsibilities: Your Impact
- Provide expert-level DBA support for Mass Markets databases, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Leverage your deep understanding of Oracle and cloud architecture across various versions to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues.
- Participate in a Tier 3 on-call rotation, providing timely and effective support for all databases.
- Apply a solid and thorough approach to tuning complex database problems involving very high volumes of data.
- Develop and implement automation strategies to streamline database administration tasks and improve efficiency.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level DBAs, fostering their growth and development.
- Collaborate effectively within a large DBA team, including those working in an offshore model.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery procedures.
- Partner with application teams to optimize code performance within databases, contributing to a seamless user experience.
What We’re Looking For: Your Expertise
Technical Prowess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience managing cloud databases.
- 8+ years of experience working with very large databases (100TB+).
- Proven experience in addressing scaling challenges within large databases.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Exadata.
- Deep working knowledge of Oracle RAC and ASM.
- Demonstrated understanding of emerging technologies, trends, and platforms.
- Experience with Data Guard, OEM, Toad, AWR, RMAN, and other essential DBA tools.
Preferred Qualifications: Stand Out from the Crowd
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Vertica, NoSQL, and Hadoop is a significant plus.
- Familiarity with the Google Cloud Environment.
- Ability to take full ownership of assigned projects and drive them to successful completion.
- Experience working in a hybrid DBA model (onshore/offshore).
- Ability to train other team members in database tuning and other database technologies.
- Self-starter with a proven ability to resolve issues independently.
- Experience supporting security policies to ensure data integrity.
