As a Senior Postgres/MySQL DBA, you’ll be instrumental in building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our innovative healthcare solutions.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll be a subject matter expert for our AWS cloud data storage services, focusing on administration and optimization. You’ll be at the forefront of developing infrastructure as code, contributing to our internal cloud platform, and empowering engineering teams to deploy applications and services with unparalleled speed and efficiency.

• Manage shared MySQL and Postgres database clusters, ensuring peak performance and staying up-to-date.
• Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot database issues and provide effective solutions.
• Design, build, and maintain our AWS-based infrastructure, supporting applications and services on ECS, EKS, and Lambda platforms.
• Develop and refine our infrastructure as code automation platform using TypeScript and Python.
• Provide expert tooling, guidance, and consultation to engineering teams, while also mentoring junior engineers.
• Ensure efficient support for engineering teams with appropriate data access controls.
• Develop cloud application resiliency solutions and participate in on-call rotations for AWS infrastructure issues.
• Collaborate within a globally distributed team, embracing agile principles for continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a candidate who is passionate about database administration, cloud technologies, and building efficient and reliable systems. You should be a problem-solver, a team player, and a strong communicator.

• 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering and Cloud Platform development.
• 4+ years of DBA experience, ideally within a cloud environment using data storage solutions.
• Experience with distributed and cloud-based architecture patterns and best practices.
• Proven success in delivering new features to production environments.
• Expertise in database administration (AWS Aurora MySQL and Postgres).
• Strong ability to independently troubleshoot database issues and collaborate with development teams.
• Proficiency in cloud-based database maintenance, upgrades, backup strategies, monitoring, and optimization.
• Deep understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure, with a focus on serverless and containerized solutions.
• Expertise in TypeScript or similar static-typing programming languages.
• Experience with Python programming is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of Cloudformation/CDK and Terraform Infrastructure as Code frameworks.
• Experience building infrastructure automation and integrating solutions into CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create diagrams to explain complex topics.
• Self-driven and passionate about DevOps methodologies and agile principles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
