Rackspace Technology is expanding its Professional Services Center of Excellence, building a team focused on Application Performance Monitoring and Observability solutions. We’re seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) / Observability Engineer who thrives on tackling complex technical challenges and translating system health into tangible business success for our customers. What You’ll Do
As a key member of our team, you’ll be instrumental in:
- Partnering directly with customers to implement and optimize Observability solutions.
- Designing, building, and maintaining highly scalable systems and robust automation pipelines that support our engineering and customer goals.
- Developing comprehensive monitoring tools, alerts, and intuitive dashboards to provide crucial visibility into system health and performance.
- Proactively analyzing metrics and logs to perform anomaly detection, performance tuning, capacity planning, and rapid fault isolation.
- Collaborating closely with development teams to ensure new features meet stringent reliability, security, and performance standards before deployment.
- Sharing knowledge and documenting solutions effectively within your team and for customers.
- Maintaining a deep understanding of both the customer’s technical landscape and their core business objectives.
- Quickly identifying performance bottlenecks, diagnosing anomalous behavior, and resolving the root cause of service disruptions.
What You Bring
We’re looking for a seasoned professional with:
- A Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Senior-level expertise in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, DevOps methodologies, code-level application support, troubleshooting, AWS infrastructure design and optimization, and automation for deployment, scaling, and reliability.
- Hands-on experience with leading observability tools such as Splunk, Datadog, SignalFx, New Relic, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or similar platforms.
- Proven ability to deploy, maintain, and support software applications and services within the AWS ecosystem.
- A highly proactive approach to identifying potential issues and devising effective solutions.
- Proficiency in one or more interpreted languages (e.g., Python, PHP, Perl, Ruby, Linux Shell scripting).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with configuration management platforms (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- A strong understanding of standard software development best practices and tools, including version control (Git preferred).
- Experience operating successfully within an agile software development environment.
- Good comprehension of AWS service pricing and cost models, especially for compute, storage, and database services.
- A clear grasp of network and system management solutions.
- Excellent organizational, project management, communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
