Site Reliability Engineer
Job Description
Join Qualia: Revolutionizing Real Estate Transactions

We’ve built the leading B2B real estate technology platform, transforming convoluted processes into a simple, secure, and genuinely enjoyable experience. Our platform seamlessly connects everyone involved – homebuyers and sellers, lenders, title and escrow agents, and real estate agents – on a single, shared digital closing environment. This brings much-needed clarity, transparency, and efficiency to real estate transactions across the country. Through our valued business customers, millions of consumers rely on Qualia every year to close on their homes.
Your Opportunity: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Resware Systems Guardian
Are you driven by the challenge of ensuring critical systems are not just operational, but robust and resilient? Do you thrive on deep technical investigation and implementing solutions that prevent problems from ever happening again? As a Site Reliability Engineer at Qualia, you won’t just support systems; you’ll be the vital guardian of our core Resware environment and its associated workflows. This pivotal role involves safeguarding operational excellence and system stability, particularly within our classic .NET, Windows-based, on-premise software. You’ll be the expert diagnostician for complex challenges within this critical part of our ecosystem, ensuring uninterrupted service for our users and internal teams while Qualia undertakes significant modernization initiatives. Your insights and efforts will be instrumental in identifying opportunities to enhance reliability and reduce future operational burden.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Safeguarding Operational Excellence & Ensuring Service Continuity
- Expert Troubleshooting & Resolution: Dive deep into complex technical issues affecting production and internal environments. Become the go-to specialist for diagnosing and resolving challenges related to SQL Server (performance tuning, index optimization, upgrade script validation), Windows Server/IIS configurations, and the core Resware application, including its centralized services.
- Stewardship of Internal Tooling: Take ownership of the maintenance, support, and enhancement for existing vital R&D tools. Understand their purpose and ensure their ongoing reliability and effectiveness within the development lifecycle.
- Installer Stability Management: Ensure the stability and functionality of the critical Resware installer, proactively addressing bugs or issues encountered during deployment and upgrades.
- Leading Incident Response & RCA: Play a key role in the incident management process, contributing significantly to or leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts. Ensure valuable lessons are captured and preventative measures are rigorously implemented to avoid recurrence.
- Enhancing Monitoring & Alerting: Collaborate with your team to continuously refine our monitoring solutions, aiming for early detection of potential issues before they impact internal operations or our end-users.
Driving System & Process Improvement
- Building a Robust Knowledge Base: Meticulously document systems, processes, and effective troubleshooting guides. Your commitment to clear, comprehensive documentation will build a shared knowledge base, reducing silos and accelerating future issue resolution.
- Identifying Pathways to Efficiency: While not primarily focused on automation development, you’ll possess a keen eye for identifying repetitive tasks, system inefficiencies, or error-prone areas that are prime candidates for automation led by the broader R&D team (e.g., DevOps Engineers).
- Influencing Stability Through Design: Provide invaluable operational feedback to development teams. Help ensure that new features and changes are designed and implemented with stability, maintainability, and long-term reliability in mind.
- Optimizing Operational Procedures: Analyze existing operational workflows to identify bottlenecks or areas for improvement. Propose and champion practical solutions that enhance efficiency and system reliability across the board.
Partnering for Success & Focusing on Outcomes
- Prioritizing Based on Impact: Understand the potential impact of technical issues on both internal and external customers, as well as core business operations, to effectively prioritize your work.
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Work seamlessly with other members of the R&D team, support departments, and IT to diagnose and resolve issues, contributing to overall system health improvements.
- Clear & Effective Communication: Articulate complex technical challenges, proposed solutions, and project status clearly and concisely to technical peers and non-technical stakeholders alike.
What You’ll Bring:
We’re looking for a seasoned professional who combines deep technical expertise with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Proven Experience: Demonstrated track record (typically 5+ years) in a role focused on maintaining and troubleshooting complex software systems, such as a Technical Support Engineer (Tier 3+), Systems Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE).
- Deep Technical Acumen:
- Solid understanding of Windows Server environments, including hands-on experience with IIS configuration and management.
- Proficiency with .NET framework applications – you can understand code structures, effectively debug, and diagnose issues within classic .NET applications.
- Familiarity with scripting and IaC languages (e.g., PowerShell, Terraform) for diagnostic purposes and minor automation tasks.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration and troubleshooting, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and validating upgrade scripts.
- Familiarity with Azure and cloud services is a plus.
- Analytical Problem Solver: You possess a strong desire to understand the root cause of problems, not just apply quick fixes. Your analytical and diagnostic skills allow you to think strategically about long-term, preventative solutions.
- Champion of Documentation: You recognize the critical value of clear, accurate documentation and have experience creating and maintaining technical knowledge bases.
- Exceptional Communicator: You can effectively translate complex technical concepts into understandable language for diverse audiences.
- Customer-Centric Orientation: You are dedicated to providing high-quality service and support, understanding that your work directly impacts internal teams and, ultimately, Qualia’s customers.
- Resware/Title Industry Experience (Highly Desirable): Prior experience working with Resware or within the title and escrow industry would be a significant asset, enabling you to quickly grasp the context of our systems and user needs.
- Proactive & Takes Ownership: You don’t wait for problems to escalate; you actively identify potential issues and take full ownership to drive them to resolution.
- Collaborative Team Player: You thrive in a team environment, understanding that collective effort is key to achieving shared goals.
