Your Impact: The Role

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE I) at OppFi, you’ll play a crucial role in scaling and automating our infrastructure on AWS. Working closely with our DevOps, SRE, and engineering teams, you’ll be instrumental in automating key processes to support our growing portfolio of products and services.

Here’s how you’ll make a difference:

Design and implement scalable deployment patterns and tools for feature development teams, focusing on technologies like Kubernetes (EKS), ECS, and Lambda on AWS.

Automate infrastructure and service deployments using Terraform, YAML, and Bash scripts.

Champion observability across our tech stack by enhancing logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerts, seamlessly integrating these into our CI/CD pipelines.

Collaborate with engineering teams to diagnose and resolve production challenges, identifying opportunities for further automation.

Lead migration efforts for legacy technologies and environments to a fully automated EKS platform.

– Continuously improve our observability and automation capabilities across all environments.

– Actively participate in and contribute to a culture of learning and growth, expanding your skills and helping teammates do the same through internal training, budget for classes, conferences, and materials.

– Work effectively in a remote-first environment (this is a US-based remote-capable position).

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a motivated engineer with a passion for building reliable, scalable systems. Your experience and skills will be key to our team’s success:

– Minimum 1+ years of experience with a major Cloud Platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

– Minimum 1+ years experience with Container Orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS, Swarm).

– Minimum 1+ years experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) / Configuration Management tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, SaltStack).

– Minimum 1+ years experience working in Linux environments.

– Minimum 1+ years experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, CircleCI, Jenkins).

– Minimum 1+ years experience with logging, metrics, and alerting tools (e.g., DataDog, Sumologic, FluentD, Prometheus, ELK, Splunk).

– Proficiency in scripting (Bash or similar languages).

– Experience with at least one non-Bash programming language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Go, Java, C#, C/C++).

– Ability to thrive in a collaborative remote environment, actively participating with camera on to foster connection.

– A strong drive for simplicity and building robust, maintainable systems.

Bonus points for experience with security scanning tools, AWS Multi-Region configurations, and Clumio.
