Ushur is seeking a talented and experienced System Architect to join our Professional Services team in Bangalore. In this hybrid role, you will be a key leader in defining and scaling the architectural foundation of our innovative platform. You will play a critical role in shaping our technology strategy, driving key architectural decisions, and ensuring seamless alignment between engineering, product, and customer-facing teams. Your Mission as a System Architect:

As a System Architect, you’ll be at the heart of our technology innovation, driving the architectural vision and ensuring the reliability and performance of our platform. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Defining Core Architecture: Establish and champion system-level architecture, guaranteeing scalability, security, performance, and maintainability across our SaaS platform. Design low-latency, high-throughput backend systems optimized for horizontal scaling and resilience.
• Technology Leadership: Lead decisions on backend frameworks, programming languages, and platform infrastructure, balancing innovation with long-term supportability. Architect RESTful APIs and microservices using modern principles and event-driven patterns.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure secure integration patterns for both customer-facing and internal solutions, aligning with industry compliance standards such as HIPAA and SOC 2.
• Cloud-Native Advocate: Drive the adoption of cloud-native principles, leveraging container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) and managed services (AWS preferred).
• Documentation & Standards: Maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, including UML diagrams, design guidelines, and integration specifications. Recommend tools, frameworks, and platforms to continually enhance Ushur’s technical capabilities.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate with executive leadership to define the long-term architectural roadmap aligned with business goals. Act as a technical thought partner to Product Management, Professional Services, Security, and Engineering. Mentor engineering teams by modeling strong software design principles, promoting continuous learning and architectural awareness.
• Cross-Team Alignment: Champion cross-team alignment and design governance across multiple ongoing product and services projects. Serve as the go-to authority on platform stack, DevSecOps, scalability tradeoffs, and technology choices.
• Strategic Support: Contribute to proposal development, solutioning workshops, and technical pre-sales when needed for strategic customer engagements. Promote a culture of agility, innovation, and accountability across the development lifecycle.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced architect with the following qualifications:

• Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in backend-focused software design and architecture.
• Programming Expertise: Deep expertise in at least two programming languages (e.g., Java, Node.js) and related backend and frontend frameworks.
• Cloud Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, Azure/GCP exposure welcome).
• DevOps & Automation: Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Experience with Linux environments and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Database Knowledge: Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Architectural Skills: Proficiency in RESTful API design, microservice architecture, event-driven design, and distributed systems. Experience with multi-tier, enterprise-grade application architecture.
• Security Awareness: Exposure to cybersecurity principles, including threat modeling, secure design, and penetration testing.
• Monitoring & Business Continuity: Experience building or guiding infrastructure for performance monitoring, data protection, and business continuity.
• Communication Skills: Skilled in producing high-quality technical diagrams, system designs, and architectural documentation.
• Problem Solving: Comfortable troubleshooting high-priority production issues and guiding teams toward root-cause resolution.
• Continuous Learning: Awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and open-source tools to enhance developer productivity.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Leadership: Experience overseeing architectural direction across multiple concurrent projects.
• Certifications (Preferred): Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect), Java, or relevant backend technologies.

Bonus Points:

• Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
• Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, insurance, or financial services).
• Understanding of user experience (UX) principles for architecting customer-facing systems.
• Experience with observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
